As the temperatures drop and we move toward the season of giving, consider donating your time to help others in the community. These organizations offer an array of opportunities.
Activate Good
A sort of one-stop volunteering shop, Activate Good links up with more than 600 partners across the Triangle. Its resources make it easy to find opportunities that fit your needs and interests. From parks to classrooms and gardens to sporting events, browse activities to support and uplift the community.
Volunteer Wake Forest
Into environmental stewardship? Adopt a stream or trail, or help with roadside cleanup. Want to get your hands dirty? Help the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department with projects from landscaping to playground rehabbing. Prefer an air-conditioned desk? Help out at the Guest Services Desk. And those are just some of the opportunities available with Volunteer Wake Forest.
Shepherd’s Table Soup Kitchen
Holidays are the busiest time of year for the Shepherd’s Table Soup Kitchen, which serves 200 to 300 people per weekday year-round in downtown Raleigh. Sign up to help turn donated food into hot meals that nourish the community.
Oak City Cares
Help people experiencing homelessness access showers, meals, health care, and other necessities at the multi-service center in downtown Raleigh. Weekday volunteers must be 18 or older, but weekends offer opportunities for children as young as 9.
