The Fenton Frames Photography Contest is returning for its second year. High school and college students are invited to submit their photographs that celebrate North Carolina on the 2026 theme of Texture — Stories You Can Feel.
All textures of the state are fair game for exploration: “From the grain of wood and the grit of concrete to the softness of foliage and the movement of water, we’re looking for images that reveal the tactile details shaping our world. Show us how patterns, materials, and surfaces tell stories of character, history, and emotion in unexpected ways.”
Submission deadline is July 17. Each student may submit up to six individual or sets of photographs.
Winners will be announced in August, and selected photographs will be featured at the Fenton Art Festival September 13 and displayed for a year. Winners will also receive a $500 award.
