Last Minute Festive Fun

It’s officially mid-December, so if you’re afraid that you missed the boat on festive fun earlier in the month — don’t worry, there are still events going on around the Triangle! Here is a list of last-minute holiday cheer to make your life a little easier during the hustle and bustle of the season.

Hoppy Holidays, Cary

Dec. 15, 3-7 p.m.

Cary Magazine’s 4th Annual Hoppy Holidays is back! Head to Bond Brothers Beer Company for a free beer and a yummy treat from Duck Donuts Cary, and bring the kids for a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus. It’s never too late to sit on Santa’s lap!

*Limit one complimentary beer per person.

Holly Day Express, Holly Springs

This is the last week to catch this year’s Holly Day Express! Santa starts by hopping on a float about 5:15 p.m. and is escorted through town by the Holly Springs Fire Department. Fire engines also join Santa’s tour through town, so if you hear a siren or see some lights, you’ll know Santa is getting close! Check out his schedule online!

Local Letters to Santa, Fuquay-Varina

Did you forget to slip a letter to Santa in the mail this year? Although many of the local mailboxes have already closed, Fuquay-Varina’s is still open! Visit the gazebo at the Fuquay Mineral Spring Park and drop your letters off before Dec. 17 to hear back from the big man himself!

Santa’s Wonderland

Santa sightings might be getting sparse, but Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s — where you can get free pictures with Santa —  is happening all the way through Christmas Eve! Advance registration is recommended.

Hanukkah Menorah Lighting, Cary

Hanukkah Menorah Lighting at the Cary Arts Center. This event is presented by the Town of Cary, the Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary, Beth Shalom, Chabad of Cary, and PJ Library.

Dec. 18, 5:30 p.m.

If you haven’t seen Cary’s Hanukkah Menorah Lighting outside of the Cary Arts Center, you don’t know what you’re missing! Enjoy a celebration with treats, fun for kids, and holiday music for all to enjoy. Rabbi Ariel Edery (Beth Shalom) and Rabbi Yisroel Cotlar (Chabad) will be performing the beautiful lighting ceremony on their brand new menorah.

Chanukah Festival, Apex

Dec. 18, 5-6:30 p.m.

For those on the southern side of Wake, Apex has its own Chanukah celebration at The Depot, complete with entertainment, a Menorah lighting, kids’ activities, and more. Don’t miss it!
