Tazza’s bar team is known for the thought and attention they put into crafting drinks. When bartender Haley Brogden set out to create a cocktail inspired by her favorite show, House of the Dragon, she wanted something bold — alcohol forward and with a spicy bite. But with warmer weather and springtime on the way, she also wanted to incorporate the subtle sweetness of honey.
She created a syrup that’s a little sweet, a little spicy, and perfectly balanced. Herbal aromas from rosemary complement the savory complexity of Amaro Montenegro.
Dining at Tazza? General Manager Joey Saba recommends pairing the drink with their flat iron steak, short rib tacos, or spicy sausage and black pepper honey pizza.
Den of Dragons
1 dash Angostura bitters
¼ ounce Amaro Montenegro liqueur
½ ounce spicy honey rosemary syrup
1 ½ ounces Old Forester 86 Proof bourbon
Measure all ingredients into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Stir. Express a strip of lemon zest over the top and garnish with a sprig of rosemary.
For spicy honey rosemary syrup: Heat equal parts honey and water, stirring to combine. Add a sprig of rosemary and 4 dried arbol chilis and steep for 20 minutes. Strain.
