It is said that no matter where you stand in the JC Raulston Arboretum, you can see a Japanese maple. Representing our garden perfectly with their toughness and huge diversity of superior garden-worthy cultivars, Acer palmatum has a special place in the hearts of everyone with a personal connection to our garden. Jim and Lynn Swanson are the volunteers responsible for pruning and maintaining the maple collection here at the JCRA, and they also happen to be the Southeast Regional Coordinators for The Maple Society of North America, giving them perhaps the most significant connection to all the maples we have here. Join us for this Plant-lover’s Tour, as Jim and Lynn take you around the garden to show off some of their favorite Japanese maples and give you some tips for bringing out the best in these beautiful trees!
