Herons receives Wine Spectator's 2012 Best of Award of Excellence
Herons, the signature restaurant of The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, has been honored with Wine Spectator's 2012 Best of Award of Excellence.
Part of a three-tiered process created to recognize interesting wine selections that are parallel with the restaurant's cuisine and appeal to a broad range of wine lovers, the award has distinguished the world's most notable wine lists for more than 30 years. Under the leadership of sommelier Hai Tran and executive chef Scott Crawford, Herons was selected alongside the finest restaurants in the country to receive this Best of Award of Excellence.
"We are honored to be recognized with this incredible award from such a prestigious publication as Wine Spectator," Tran says. "Herons prides itself on its artful cuisine and extensive wine list, and this award solidifies our efforts to create a unique, luxurious dining experience for each guest."
Wine Spectator's 2012 awards program honors wine programs which are complementary to the restaurant in both style and price. The Best of Award of Excellence winners exceed the requirements of the Award of Excellence and included wine lists of 400 or more selections, an exceptional presentation, and either vintage depth in its vertical offerings or notable breadth spanning several wine regions.
